FCBC Pastor of Chinese-Speaking Ministries: 2009–Present

Peter was born in Hong Kong and started his full-time ministry in 1988 to serve as a youth pastor in the Salvation Army to equip leaders for high school and college students. He was sent to pioneer a new church in Kowloon East two years later. While he was a student at Alliance Bible Seminary, he was also a senior pastor of CNEC Union Church and applied what he learned and researched in family ministries. Before he left Hong Kong, Peter served at Kowloon City Baptist Church for eight years. He led various departments, included men’s ministry, counseling, community services, and outreach ministries. He mainly served adults and established the Outreach Center for Adults in 2005. He moved to the United States in 2008 to serve at FCBC as the Chinese-Speaking Ministries pastor. He likes reading, exercise and praying. He wrote the book Midlife Ascent: Men’s Growth and Goal. Peter married his wife Lydia in 1990, and they have a daughter studying in UC Berkeley.

FCBC Associate Pastor of English-Speaking Ministries: 2012–Present

Visal and Lindsey Sok have two daughters and began their ministry at FCBC in July 2012. Although Visal was raised in a Buddhist home, through his apartment manager he heard the gospel and came to faith and trusted in Christ. Visal earned his Bachelors of Social Work from George Fox University at Newberg, Oregon, and his M.Div. from Western Seminary. Visal oversees English-speaking ministries at FCBC and is passionate about preaching and proclaiming the gospel. Visal enjoys all genres of books. He loves drinking coffee, watching movies, and eating all kinds of food. His favorite Disney movie is Aladdin. He and his family love San Francisco and walk everywhere in the city.

Lydia Yeung

FCBC Community Outreach Minister: June 2015–Present

Lydia was a church planter to lead brothers and sisters to establish churches in Hong Kong. She served in the Salvation Army and Yan O Alliance Church to pioneer churches from very beginning. When she got pregnant, she served as part-time pastor and finally quitted as she preferred to be a full-time mother. However, she still served as a voluntary counselor and growth class guardian, led Bible Study and cared for members regularly at Kowloon City Baptist Church where her husband Peter served. She moved to the United States with her family in 2008 and served voluntary in FCBC. She started her ministry as a pastor in the church from 2015. She is keen on evangelism and was certified as a qualified teacher and trainer for Evangelism Explosion International Ministry. She got married with Peter in 1990 and they have a daughter studying in UC Berkeley.

Wendi Lin

FCBC Church Administrator: 2000–Present

Wendi came to the States to join her husband Harry with their 9-month-old son. Before answering the call to become FCBC’s church administrator in 2000, she was an elementary school teacher and taught Chinese typing at adult night school in Guangzhou, China. Wendi joined the FCBC Cantonese worship the first Sunday they came to San Francisco because Harry had been attending Friday Night School and Sunday worship service for years by then. She later accepted Christ and got baptized after working as church administrator for half a year. Wendi takes care of the office and the church building. She loves traveling, hiking, reading (Chinese, preferably), and watching police or crime dramas.

Marian Hom

Marian was born and raised in San Francisco. She was brought to FCBC as a child by her parents and has remained active in service to the church her entire life. Marian has handled all the financial recordkeeping for FCBC for over 11 years. She is also busy with maintaining a three-generation household, which consists of her husband, Franklin, a daughter, a son and daughter-in-law, and their two very adorable and active grandsons. Marian is most happy spending time with her family and friends.

Don has been involved in American Baptist life all his life. He grew up in Boston at First Baptist and became active in Christian service there. When he was with ABC Educational Ministries, he developed curriculum, led national gatherings, trained leaders, and served as a consultant in educational planning. In 1998, Don was called to be the Senior Pastor at FCBC and has enjoyed immensely the ministry of preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. He loves to make Jesus known in the city. Don has been married to Joy Shih for over 42 years, and they have two married children and six lovely grandchildren. Don continues to be a die-hard Red Sox fan and plays tennis for fun and exercise. In 2014­–2015, Don served as the President of the American Baptist Churches, USA.

James Chuck

FCBC Pastor Emeritus: 1996-July 2017

Dr. Chuck first came in contact with FCBC in 1934 as a student in the nursery school. He was nurtured in the Christian Education program of the church, which led to his baptism in 1944. While a student at the American Baptist Seminary of the West, the church invited him to be the Youth Director. Upon his graduation, he became the English-Speaking Pastor, and then the Senior Pastor for the entire congregation. He completed his service at FCBC in 1991. Dr. Chuck continued to serve FCBC becoming Pastor Emeritus in 1996 and serving as a facilitator for The Gathering, an adult Sunday School class. FCBC has been blessed to have him as a member for over 80 years.

Reverend Doctor James Chuck went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2017.
